This Sunday is Mothers Day and I wanted to make a special post to someone very very close to my heart who is my mother- who also happens to be one of my best friends, is another year cooler today. And wiser. And older. She's made me into the person I am today and I'm forever indebted into all she's invested in me. As I thought about this post, I was reminded of all the things my mother has done for me. I've caused her both joy and heartache, but my mothers love has never failed me. She's taught me so many great lessons of life. Here are just a few of many lessons my mother has taught me that has helped mold my backbone and perception of the world.
1.My parents greatest pet-peeve was when we argued as siblings and growing up in a house with 4 other sisters all one to two years apart was tough but so much fun. As growing up I love sports and I participated in any kind of sports in school. My mom never missed any of my games. My sisters and I were very close growing up and pretty much do things together and so as my brothers. We took care of each other and always watch out for one another even now we still do. I remember one of our family home evening my mother told us, "I love watching you guys together doing things together and laugh together, as you guys grow up and have families of your own, please stay that way, 'DONT EVER LET THE WORLD CHANGE THAT'.
2. My mother is big on education! All growing up the principals, office ladies, counselors and teachers knew my mother by first name. I swear Vaiola High School was on her speed dial. She would constantly call in and check on our attendance, grades and behavior.....My mother always pushed us to challenge ourselves...She would always tell us "push yourselves, if these palagi kids can do it, so can you." I learned over and over again, and I am still learning from my mother "That the only barrier we face in achieving something is the self doubt we create within ourselves." The power to push me thru that barrier - or to push me back into it- had never belonged to any other person. "IT WAS MINE, AND ONLY MINE."
3. My mom always said, "there is always something GREAT in every person" so dont judge anyone before you get to know them well. Life is interesting in many ways, you will meet people that will become your good friends, you will meet people that will be willing to take the risk, and also you will meet people that will disappoint you.. She taught us, we should always be willing to LISTEN and make sure give that person credit in something, and remember it never HURTS TO BE NICE...AND in the same time, choose wise friends that you know will have good impact on you because it will affect you!!!! and remember to always CHOOSE THE RIGHT.....
Mom, Happy Mothers Day.... Thank you for everything you are....I hope to be able to follow your footsteps and be that amazing mother to my kids if Im gonna have kids someday....hehehhee....as you have being for me.... I will be forever thankful to God for you...You are the world greatest mother....
I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART.....
